“As a Mechanical Design Engineer, things that work properly to be are as basic in my psyche as rails are to a Train Driver. My last job was Aston Martin’s Cost-Reduction Manager (DB7, DB9, V8, Vanquish through DBS). 9 years of removing 20%+ of materials costs without deletions, reduction in quality or corner-cutting for the World’s most scrutinised Supercars. To do that well, you need an eye for quality, robustness, longevity & of course, reasonably good taste!

My 3 personal MUSTS were Robustness, Practical/ Serviceable Design & Cost Efficiency. They still are today in WMP. I apply all of that Aston Martin learning here, along with brand-passion & service delivery. Furnishing or decorating, for example, needs to be affordable for the owner, & look beyond affordable to the observer & appear more valuable than it cost, really stand out, but not be brash, be distinctive but still current, durable yet desirable & invoke strong desirous emotions. If you can achieve that, it will be a success for all, a nice home & a good investment, with maximum user satisfaction”
