AIR CONDITIONER

ISSUES YOU

SHOULD KNOW

ABOUT

Page 2: Top 5 Problems With Your HVAC System

LOW REFRIGERANT

Your air conditioner uses a refrigerant

pumped through the long tube or lines that

removes the heat and humidity from the air

in your home or business.

Leaks in the refrigerant line means the

system cannot cool the air effectively.

In this case, not only must the

refrigerant has to be placed but an

HVAC technician has to find the leak

and repair the hole in the lines.

This can’t be a time-consuming and expensive process, especially if there are

multiple leaks.

FROZEN EVAPORATOR COILS

Your air conditioner refrigerant lines

coils though an evaporator which

absorbs heat from the air like a

sponge. It sounds stange but those

coils needs warm air circulating

around them to keep the refrigerant

circulating freely.

If not, a layer of the ice build up on

the coil and you get warm air- or

noun at all- blowing through your air

registers

DIRTY CONDENSER COILS

You just read what happens,

when evaporated coils freeze

ups. Your AC is a condeser coil

in the outdoor unit get air blown

over them to remove the heat

from the coils and expel it

outside the building, but if the

coils are covered with the layer

of dirt and grime, heat tansfer is

made more difficult, which

increased wear on th parts and

even system failure.

FAN PROBLEM

Your AC unit has a two fans- one for the

evaporator coil and one for the condenser

coils outside. The both have to work well to

cool your house. If a faulty fan motors, lack of

lubrications, a worn belts or too much dirt and

debris keep fan from either working in you get

air conditioner problem. If you don’t fix the

problem then you will have to have the

compressor replaced due to failure.

LEAKING DUCTS

The cooled air is moved on the ductwrok

running through your walls and ceiling

into your room, but if the duct has a hole,

the cool air escapes and never makes it

to cool your room. Holes are common

and can be caused by chewing rodents

or careless workers. If air doesn’t get to

your room, the thermostat keeps the

system running to try to compensate, and

that drive up your energy bills.

THERMOSTAT

PROBLEMS

The thermostat especially the old dial - type

ones, to become incorrectly calibrated and

cause your air conditioner to get wrong

instruction from the control system. When

this happen your thermostat should be

replaced or recalibrated. If you have a fairly

complex programmable thermostat, it may

simply need to be set correctly. In this case,

follow the instructions in the manuals

carefully to program it correctly.

CLOGGED

DRAINS

Your air conditioner remove the

moisture from the air through

the drain lines, into the holding

pan and finally down a drain. If

the line or drain gets clogged,

then the holding pan can get

full, and water can backup and

damage your system, not to

mention to leaking out of the

pans to damage your walls,

ceiling and even your

furnishings. If it’s not corrected

right away, the mold growth will

compound the problem.
