The Hyderabad Metro Rail project is developed as one of the largest transport system and it is the rapid transit system for the Hyderabad. It has been proposed by Andhra Pradesh Government in the year 2008 and proposed with 15000 crores over 72 kilometres of elevated metro line, based on public private partnership model.This Project will be undertaken in two phases. Phase-I has 3 line covering and it covers the areas such as Nagole to Secunderabad, Miyapur to SR Nagar, Mettagudato Begumpet, Begumpet to Shilparamam, SR Nagar to LB Nagar and JBS to Falaknuma.

After the completion of phase-I, phase-II will be taken up. Phase-II covers the areas such as Miyapur- BHEL-Patancheruvu, Falaknuma to Shamshabad Airport, LB Nagar to Vanasthalipuram, ECIL to Tarnaka, Nagole-LB Nagar-Falaknuma, JNTU-Shilparamam-Gachibowli, JBS to Alwal and Gachibowli-Tolichowk-Lakdikapul.Most of the people in Hyderabad are encouraged to use the buses, two wheelers and four wheelers to commute to the offices as a result these vehicles increases carbon dioxide level in air and leads frequent traffic jams. Now Hyderabad is struggling with traffic jams due to fast growing IT, ITES and Pharmacy Industries to overcome these problems Government has introduced Metro Rail in the city whereas this Metro rail is as eco friendly mode of transport, it reduces carbon dioxide and saves fuel too.
