Here are ten things to ask residents to keep an eye on in properties you manage. If they spot these signs, be sure to do a complete
inspection to avoid or treat a possible pest infestation.
1. Lines of ants near baseboards or on windowsills could be a sign of an ant infestation.
2. Pets scratching themselves or bites on lower legs might mean fleas are present.
3. Nests in eaves or wasps near trash bins are a sure sign that stinging insects need to be addressed.
4. Scratching or running sounds in walls and ceilings, shredded paper, or droppings could mean you have a rodent problem.
5. Bite marks after sleeping, or reddish marks on bedding are a sign of a bed bug outbreak.
6. Roaches will usually be seen scattering when lights are turned on.
7. Shed skins, fecal spots or holes in carpeting might be a sign of carpet beetles.
8. Tiny moths in food or clothing storage areas should prompt an immediate investigation for clothes moths.
9. More than a few buzzing and biting mosquitoes might warrant an investigation.
10. Insect wings, mud tubes, or tiny pellets near wood sources or in woodpiles might mean termites have moved in.
