SPECIFIC FOCUS ON CT AND THERMOSIPHON

Do the cooling coils we source live up to our specifications?

How do we ensure specified quality when soldering?

Dantherm specialty: Energy-efficient climate control solutions for shelters and cabinets

In both types of telecom sites thermosiphons are relevant as method of thermal management in the site. This presentations focuses specifically on CT Scanning in relation to the thermosiphon

A thermosiphon is a passive cooling system consisting of:

1. An evaporator coil2. A condenser coil3. An airflow through the evaporator (via fan)4. An airflow through the condenser (via fan)5. Piping and soldering6. Gravity

What does a thermosiphon consist of?

The coil consists of:1. 2 headers2. MPE-pipes3. Zipper fins between

the MPE-pipes4. Louver fins, stamped out

in the zipper fins

Do the cooling coils we source live up to our specifications?

To answer this, we used microscopy (and grind /cut)

Microscopy is a well-known and reliable method, but relatively expensive and time consuming

Our first scan was a section of a coil

After intro to the AM cluster of Teknologisk Institut in Denmark, we participated in the first meeting for CT scans

Our first assumptions were incorrect: the zipper fin angles were correct, but the scan showed an issue the header material. This was a corrective result, which we could not have achieved via the first method.

Analysis of the entire sampleScan is quickly performed Fast result presentation and thereby fast reaction of corrective actions towards unwanted performance.Visual result, easy to communicate Cost-efficient.

Analysis of cut area onlyDestructive Time consumingLong reaction time and long waiting time to be able to make corrective actions
