I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light

Page 5: Sunday Closing Worship

I want to walk as a child of the light;

I want to follow Jesus. God set the stars

to give light to the world; The star of my life is Jesus.

Page 6: Sunday Closing Worship

Refrain:In him there is no darkness

at all; The night and the day are

both alike. The Lamb is the light

of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

Page 7: Sunday Closing Worship

I want to see the brightness of God;

I want to look at Jesus. Clear Sun of Righteousness,

shine on my path And show me the way

to the Father.

Page 8: Sunday Closing Worship

Refrain:In him there is no darkness

at all; The night and the day are

both alike. The Lamb is the light

of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

Page 9: Sunday Closing Worship

I’m looking for the coming of Christ;

I want to be with Jesus. When we have run

with patience the race, We shall know the joy of Jesus.

Page 10: Sunday Closing Worship

Refrain:In him there is no darkness

at all; The night and the day are

both alike. The Lamb is the light

of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

Call to Confession - Leader: The Gospel of John tells us the basis for our judgment is this: “The light came into the world, and people loved darkness more than the light, for their actions are evil.”

Page 12: Sunday Closing Worship

We confess our sins to God, to whom we have access through faith in Christ. We come in boldness and confidence, not according to our merit, but according to God’s grace.

Page 13: Sunday Closing Worship

People: God of justice, we confess

that our actions are evil whenever we remain passive

while others are oppressed; whenever we guard our own

prosperity at the expense of those

who are poor;

Page 14: Sunday Closing Worship

or when we ignore the cries of those in need of help.

Forgive us, we pray, for hiding in the darkness of this world

more than loving the light of your righteousness

made known to us in Jesus Christ.

Page 15: Sunday Closing Worship

Judge us with mercy, we pray, and extend your grace to us.

Strengthen our faithfulness to you and to all who are

precious in your sight. We pray in the name of Christ,

our Light. Amen.

Page 16: Sunday Closing Worship

Leader: Almighty God, through the testimony of those who know your love, you have guided us to ask for what we need. Our Lord Jesus called his disciples to live as a city on a hill and a lamp on a stand, that all may see the glory of God.

Page 17: Sunday Closing Worship

People: Lord in your mercy,Hear our prayer.

Page 18: Sunday Closing Worship

Leader:We pray for the church, the community of disciples. Grant that we, who claim the name of Christ, may shine as light into our dark world.

Page 19: Sunday Closing Worship

People: Lord in your mercy,Hear our prayer.

Page 20: Sunday Closing Worship

Leader: Our brother Paul led the church, not by lofty words of human wisdom, but by wisdom born of your Spirit.

Page 21: Sunday Closing Worship

We pray for those who serve the church; let our pastors, teachers, and those who minister in the name of Christ forsake worldly knowledge that perishes and be led by your truth.

Page 22: Sunday Closing Worship

People: Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Page 23: Sunday Closing Worship

Leader: Blessed are those who honor your commandments, O Lord.

Page 24: Sunday Closing Worship

People: Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Page 25: Sunday Closing Worship

Leader: We pray for our world, for the governments and for its leaders. May all who rule honor justice and compassion and serve the common good that the people may flourish.

Page 26: Sunday Closing Worship

People: Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Page 27: Sunday Closing Worship

Leader: You teach us to offer food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted.

Page 28: Sunday Closing Worship

People: Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Page 29: Sunday Closing Worship

Leader: We pray for the sick, the hungry, the poor, the homeless, and those who are oppressed. Let your church minister to those in distress and bear witness to your abiding compassion for all who suffer.

Page 30: Sunday Closing Worship

People: Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Page 31: Sunday Closing Worship

Together:In faith, we acknowledge

that God has acted in the past,in a holy mystery.

In faith, we confess that God seeks to rule our lives today.

Page 36: Sunday Closing Worship

In faith, we affirm that God continues to send prophets and speak through willing vessels to guide the course of all history toward its end.

Page 37: Sunday Closing Worship

In faith, we imagine that end to be characterized by the traits we find in Jesus Christ: compassion, justice, and love.

Page 38: Sunday Closing Worship

In faith, we long to be part of that purpose. Amen
