The dinner he prepared to welcome Barack Obama to the White House shortly after he became president: a salad of baby spinach, Ponchatoula strawberries soaked in Grand Marnier liqueur and blood oranges "sweet as honey" from Plaquemines Parish, topped with toasted pine nuts, feta cheese and a raspberry-walnut vinaigrette; a main course of Kobe beef stuffed with lump crabmeat, served with duchess potatoes and asparagus grilled with roasted red bell peppers; and, for dessert, angel food cake with strawberries and Chantilly cream
