What my magazine will contain

My magazine will be aimed towards people who enjoy rock and/or metal music. It will contain information about upcoming bands that don’t have a big fan base, all the information needed about gigs and tours, as well as big events, and will contain interviews and new information about older, bigger bands, in order to appeal to the target audience.

Magazine frequencyMy magazine will come out weekly, and it will cost around £2.50 an issue. I have decided to make it weekly as it will strive to keep itself updated on news from the genre of music, such as live performances, upcoming tours and any other related news. I have decided to do it like this as the majority of the people that answered my survey said that they read Kerrang if anything, and so they are used to weekly magazines. People have also answered that they agree with a price range of between £2 and £2.50, and so I am appealing to a wide range of my readers, with a wide range of disposable income.

Article

• My article will be centred around an interview with the lead singer from the band “Rise above”, a new band attempting to enter the music scene.

• It will be focused on how the band members plan to release songs in the future, gain exposure and where they plan to do in the future.

• I will use pull quotes in between the main chunks of the article with interesting sayings to interest the reader, persuading them to carry on reading.

• I will include some pictures that the band have made, letting the audience know who exactly the interview is with.

Photography plan: front coverActor/Model – lead guitarist of Rise above, 17, female.

Angle/Shot – I think a medium shot would be best for this. I will be taking this as a medium shot will allow me to easily use a large image to take up the majority of the page, whilst leaving room around the top or bottom of the imagine, and around the sides, for me to use images or text.

Locations – I will be taking this shot in a studio, with a white background. The reason for this is because I think that it will allow for easier and less obvious editing, as well as allowing us to edit some settings, such as light level, in the studio, allowing us to customise the photo shoot more.

Costumes – I think that casual clothing would be best for this image. I think the reason for this is because it will be conveying the guitarist in a relaxed, natural way, which is what I want to achieve.

Props – No props should be necessary for this shoot, as I would like the singer to be looking casual and relaxed in this image.

Photography plan: double page spreadActor/Model – Lead guitarist of Rise above, 17, female.

Angle/Shot – I think that a medium long shot would be best for this, as it will allow me to use a rather large image for this shoot. This will also give me room to type around the image.

Location – In a studio, with a white background. This will allow us to decide how bright the lighting for the shoot is, as well as allowing me to edit the image with ease if necessary.

Costume – Casual, yet dark clothing. If dark clothing isn’t available then I can edit it to look darker if needed, as well as dimming the lights if it looks too bright.

Props – An electric guitar would be preferable for this shoot, as I would like the shot to convey action, which can draw the reader in.

Photography plan: contents pageActor/Model – Lead guitarist of Rise above, 17, female.

Angle/Shot – I will be taking different shots for the contents page. For example, while I may have an eye level close up shot, I may also have a medium shot. This will allow a lot of variety in my contents page.

Location – In a studio, with a blank background. I choose this as it will allow quick and easy editing of the background, as well as space around the image if needed. It will also allow for easy resizing, as the background is not important I can cut it out if necessary.

Costume – I think that casual clothing would be best for this shoot, as it is meant to look natural – like the band members do every day.

Props – no props should be needed for this shoot.
