Integrating technology into the classroom-specifically the Pre-Kindergarten classroom at my work.
Working on integrating blogs for all classes in the center.
Blogging Throughout the Semester
What we are learning this month:
Includes lesson plans, activities, and projects for each month.
Photo Gallery
Display of pictures and videos of the students.
Easily accessible-parents can print copies of photos.
Place where parents can communicate with teachers/send messages to their children throughout the day.
Communication Log
• Each student has a portfolio showing his/her success throughout the school year.
• Includes anecdotal notes, photographs, art, stories, and other samples of children's work.
• In the Pre-K class-students write their name on their first day, and also right before their graduation.
Portfolio
Parents can view and understand the use of the different technologies students are using within the classroom.
Currently, our Pre-K class has 5 iPad’s used during free time/centers twice a day.
New Technologies Within the Classroom
Designed with the educator in mind and is extremely customizable.
It allows a whole classroom of students to use a single ipad, and tracks each student’s individual progress.
It also has leveled instruction. Each student progresses through the activities, moving forward only when mastery has been achieved.
The teacher is also allowed to define what mastery looks like for each student.
Teach Me Toddler App
Timmy wanders through a variety of scenes that require him to complete a series of different tasks.
The children find this app very engaging. Teaches color matching, patterning, shapes
& counting. It offers stickers as each task is completed. Does not lend itself with multiple users
Timmy’s Pre-School Adventure
PBS Parents Play and Learn
Teaches literacy, math and thinking skills.
Leading the children to deeper learning, not just deeper into the app store, as is so often the case with online learning.
Jump Start Pre-School
Children were guided through a series of activities that became progressively harder until they had completed an entire group of tasks.
Children complete activities to earn stars.
Works better for individual students, not for whole classroom.
