Tips and tricks: Job interview
A job interview is one of the most drawn-out and intimidating ways of making first impression. Luckily, there are ways in order to improve on making a good first impression.
Before: How to prepare for an interview
Have a good night sleep
Sleep makes you feel better, it's really important because it boosts your mood, improve your memory and most importantly helps you with your creativity.
Have a balanced breakfast
Breakfast might be the most important meal you eat every day. After several hours of sleep, your body needs fuel to get going. And not providing can have detrimental effects. Having a balanced breakfast gives you better concentration, energy and also enhances your mood.
Dress properly and professionallyA professional who doesn't take the time to maintain a
professional appearance presents the image of not being able to perform adequate. If you look and
behave like a highly trained well-groomed professional, you will gain the respect and honor of your interviewer.
Arrive on time
Arriving on time or five minutes before shows that you are concerned about the job, and also makes
the interviewer see that you are serious and motivated.
Prepare an answer sheet
Preparing an answering sheet helps you practice
for your interview so that you could be ahead of the
questions your interviewer would most
likely ask you.
Be positive
Tell yourself that you are going to get the job and that you are the best. Thinking
positive can play a big part on your day and always remember : Smile !!
What to do and what not to do ?Do’s
1. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early. If you think you'll be late, phone the company.2. Wear the right clothes for the job, the company, the industry. Have a hair trim. Look neat.3. Shake hands firmly.4. Make good eye contact with your interviewer(s). 5. Control any nervous tic, like scratching your face or head.6. Speak disctinctly, using correct English. 7. Show what you can do for the company.
Don’ts
1. Don’t smoke before the interview so as not to smell of smoke.2. Don't chew-gum during the interview.3. Don't answer questions with a simple «yes» or «no» explain whenever possible. Describe those things about yourself that showcase your talents, skill, and determination. Give detailed examples.4. Don’t use familiar language or slang.5. Don't fidget or slouch. 6. Avoid controversial topics like politics or religion.7. Don't offer any negative information about yourself.
