In August 2012, the Kern Family Foundation sponsored a “Clean App Your Neighborhood” workshop where five teams of students produced apps for nonprofits.
It was from this initiative that Habib Khan and Brian Nussbaum drew the inspiration for what they then called, “Apps for Humanity.”
Beginning with 40 members, they set about their goal to create mobile applications for nonprofits and mobile app development accessible to the community.
Entering the second year with four completed projects and over 300 new members, their idea expanded to others.
