Why genre fiction?

(because I like it, that’s why)

What do I mean by “genre fiction”?

“Genres are formed by conventions that change over time as new genres are invented and the use of old ones are discontinued. Often, works fit into multiple genres by way of borrowing and recombining these conventions.”--Wikipedia (“Genre,” 11/4/2014)

Genres Within Queer Literary Fiction

… are not what we’re talking about today.

Genres With Queer Histories

Genre readers deserve diversity.

Queer readers deserve fun books.

Genres give permanence to queer existences.

Hypothesis: Fewer books challenged
