COMMAND AND CONTROL

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• In the past, all information was kept inside the control room.

• Information was given vocally to the field through vocal communication (radio)

• Information to other services through phone

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• Today, information must be available instantly where it is needed :

• Inside the control room

• In the field to the resources

• To other services

• To Crisis centers

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• First way to distribute information was to spread workstations almost everywhere.

• Today we have Internet access with secure communication

INTERNET ACCESS

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• Our best example is our largest customer: French Gendarmerie.

They have a central server pool, located near Paris with 6’000 workstations spread all over French territories around the world, Metropolitan and Overseas.

At Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack, it jumped to 30‘000 workstations.

INTERNET ACCESS

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• A next trend is mobile workstations. These can be Tablets or Smartphones.

• They are real workstations, individually notified

• They can be almost as rich as in the Control Room or much more simple, it depends on the service policy.

• Sometimes they are also able of auto dispatch.

MOBILE WORKSTATIONS

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• Our best example is again French Gendarmerie. This year they will start adding 5’000 mobile and step by step reach 50’000 mobile workstations.

MOBILE WORKSTATIONS

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• The last step is the mobile control room.

• Located in a vehicle, it can be simple or extremely well equipped.

• Normally, it is an extension of the control room. Information is shared between them.

• It is quite common in the US and in some parts of Europe, like for instance French Civil Defense.

VEHICLES

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• In some cases, the mobile Control Room can start its activities without any network.

When communication is available, all data will be synchronized and vehicle and Control Room will work in harmony.

VEHICLES

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• Some are light vehicles, able to be quickly on incident site.

• They have minimal equipment.

• Others have everything, but are much bigger and come on site later, but they are a complete Control Room extension.

VEHICLES

• This is also a Mobile Command Center and can be a multiservice one.

It can welcome several organizations (police, ambulance, etc.). For situational awareness, one truck wall is used to project a dashboard.

At this stage, we can use multiservice capabilities of our CAD product. So it will be possible to work on the incident in a multiservice way, displaying all information on the map.

VEHICLES

MOBILE COMMAND & CONTROL

• In Crisis, mobile workstations around and inside the vehicle will provide a lot of information from the field.

• They will be used at Command & Control headquarter, but also at Crisis Management level.
