INITIALLY KNOWN AS BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES

THE FIRST EVENT WAS HELD IN THE YEAR

1930.

In 1930, titled as British empire

game at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

where 11 nations participated.

It takes place every 4 years except

1942 and1946 due to world war II.

Only 6 teams attended every game

i.e. Australia ,Canada, england,new

zealand,scotland and Wales.

It was 19th common wealth game ,firstly held in India at Delhi from 3-14 October 2010.

The Opening ceremony was held at jawahar lal Nehru stadium.

Largest multi-sports game held in India. 71 countries -2000 staff- 18000 volunteers-

272 events. A Special village was developed known as

“game village”. Around 12 billions were spent on

infrastructure development. Australia was first and India stud second.

Composed and performed

by Indian musician “A.R.

RAHMAN”.

Song was based on title of

the game “COME OUT AND

PLAY”.

Official motto was “SHERA”.
