HIP HOP

There are a lot of low-angled, close up shots in current hip hop videos which are usually used to

imply the artists power and dominance over the audience. The low angle gives them the power

because they are looking down on the audience and the close up gives status as it hints they’re of

great importance enough to have a shot to themselves.

HIP HOP 2

In hip hop music videos a crowd Is usually shown dancing or bouncing their

arms in time with eh actual beat of the song. This makes them look as if

they’re actually dancing to/ with the song which suggests they like the song.

This gives credibility to the song/artist as it shows that people do like the

songs.

or there previous violent encounters. In grime videos there are many shot types that

doesn’t really represent much as each shot , angle and edit is usually done in order to

draw attention to the artist as most grime themes are exclusively about the artist.

Grime videos also use a lot of establishing and panning shots to show their area and

their environment that they are in which is usually there estate , where they live or

the “real streets of England”

GRIME 2

Commonly in grime videos the overall concept is either life on the streets, making

music /money or the artists struggle. In some grime videos you will see artist

talking about their success and performing to a crowd on stage its here when

grime takes a few elements from the trap and hip hop culture. Also the beat and

instrumentals of grime itself run at 140bpm with an 8 bar. Making grime quite

the fast paced genre effectively which doesn’t stop others from combining grime

beats and sounds with trap this is what you call modern grime beats.

POP

In POP the artists are clothed in fashionable, stylish and mainstream outfits

the artist is also portrayed as happy, enjoying and content with life. The lyrics

are normally based around love or relationships .Often pop bands express the

unity associated with teens, which is the main target audience for their genre.

Music genre is normally conveyed through the video dressing and setting. Pop

is that the song usually is between 3-5 minutes long with a set structure and a

consistent beat.

POP 2

Another convention of Pop music is that within the music industry it tends to follow

current trends rather than being independent and making something new, unique and

different to hear. • The form the song normally follows a verse-chorus-verse structure

and uses hooks which are catchy and therefore stays in the audiences mind. In the UK

Pop songs are guaranteed to be heard everyday on well known radio stations. The songs

usually include beats that are very dance-orientated. Pop music videos are also very

stereotypical and are associated with people in their teens as many people in their

youth enjoy partying and clubbing and dancing, which is exactly what the purpose of

pop music is for. A lot of the imagery created is base on sex or partying as this is

stereotypically what teens enjoy.
