Executive Summary
The Rotary E Club of Southern Africa D9400 records a heathy growth since its inception some 2.5 years
ago. The various awards received are a clear indication that the members of the club are focused and
passionate about “Serving Humanity”. A few changes in membership were noted mostly due to the non-
payments of members. During the year a lot of emphasis was put on fellowship, membership growth as
well as hard work to obtain significant club projects which are both sustainable and meaningful.
Great partnerships were formed. The Club has exceptional Leaders, many passionate and loyal Rotarians,
who make a difference to the lives of many people in our community. We have placed a focus on New
Generations and leadership development. We are proud of our 7 Rotaract Clubs, the RYLA programme
and will also participate in the long term student exchange programme.
Activities such as the hosting and management of the web site are done by the Rotaract members of YFM.
Our members are active on our web site and also participate from time to time using the ZOOM online
platform. We are proud to acknowledge that 8 of our members attended the RI Convention in Seoul. The
Club also established the 4x4 International Fellowship for Rotarians which was exhibited in the House of
Friendship in Seoul.
It has been a great privilege to serve the Club over the past year! The club has transformed from 28 to the
52 members. Our members are active and vibrant. The aim is to grow the Club’s membership to 200 in
2020. Let's continues to seize opportunities and use our skills and influence to grow our club and Rotary
International.
Objectives

Mission and Vision Statement
Mission: We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. Our values are an increasingly important component in strategic planning because they drive the intent and direction of the organization’s leadership. These core values are: Peace and global understanding We build lifelong relationships. Ethics and integrity We honour our commitments. Diversity We connect diverse perspectives. Vocational expertise, service, and leadership We apply our leadership and expertise to solve social issues. Our Vision: To be regarded as a respected, well run Service Club, whose members are fully committed to the Objects of Rotary; to develop community service projects as outlined in the six focus areas, that address many of today's most critical issues and finally, to use the internet to retain, attract, develop and manage a friendly community of like-minded Rotarians. The Rotary motto is “Service above Self.”
Keys to Success
Doing a SWOT analysis of the club help to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the club. By doing so, the members can focus on new methods to address the weaknesses. The results of the SWOT analyses are as follows: Strengths Strong Board, good governance and new leadership Aligned to the Goals and Objectives of Rotary International – focused approach Flexible, experienced and skilled Rotarians Good and solid profile in the community Members are scattered across the Continent and Europe with potential huge footprint Focus on New Generations Weaknesses Members are scattered across the Continent and need to stay in touch online and through fellowship Some members are not active enough in their communities Awareness of projects Attendance at weekly meetings (24/7) by some members can improve Donations to the Rotary Foundation / Polio Plus programme

Await PBO registration We see major opportunities and challenges as being: Opportunities To change the demographics of the membership of the Club as can tap into the Globe Target expats abroad to “buy” into Rotary and our Club. Increase membership. Introduce activities that can change the energy levels in the Club – make Rotary an exciting place to be! Establish and invite Friends of the Rotary E Club of Southern Africa 9400 To get corporate sponsorships and partnerships to fund projects To capitalize on experience and business influence of present and future Rotarians To offer a forum for those within the community to learn from other professions and gain further input and knowledge from our experienced Rotarians who have been out there and done it. To promote the interactive web site in order to attract new members, partners, visitors and businesses. Interact with other Rotary E Clubs around the World. Use 4x4 Fellowship as an additional tool. 1. At this assembly we also need to solicit innovative ideas from all members to add to this plan. It is also important to hold an annual review to change direction in need etc. 2. Develop a plan to communicate with each other on a weekly basis as well at these assemblies. 3. We need to help members to navigate the RI (Club Central and My Rotary) and Club website as well as the social networking sites. 4. Set up training sessions on online platform. 5.RFHD and other projects: List the various service projects members are involved in. 6. We need to work together as a team, even if we are scattered over the Continent. Buddy System 7. Share success stories and best practices. 8. Invite members to join committees.
