Federalists wanted a government ruled by the wealthy class while Democratic-Republicans wanted a government ruled by the people.
Federalists wanted a strong federal government while Democratic-Republicans wanted strong state governments.
Federalists had an emphasis on manufacturing while Democratic-Republicans had an emphasis on agriculture.
Federalists wanted a British alliance while Democratic Republicans wanted a French alliance.
