Why didn’t Alexander stop at this point?

• To safeguard what he’d already conquered• Pothos – a longing to go further than anyone

else and just find out what was there• Further conquest because he knew Indian

princes were disunited – wealth• May have thought that by going further east

he would reach the eastern ocean and the very edge of the world

• A desire to make a journey o geographical and scientific discovery
