Terrorism on Maharashtra soil intolerable: Devendra Fadnavis

1. Maharashtra has been the land of revolutionaries, who sacrificed their lives in the feet of Bharat Mata. Some of these freedom fighters, with whose blood the land of Maharashtra got sacred comprise of Chatrapati Shivaji, Lokmanya Tilak, Veer Savarkar, Ganesh Savarkar, Rajguru, Vasudev Balwant Phadke, Chapekar brothers and so on.

2. Alas! On that very holy land, now the blood of innocent Indians is flowing due to Pak-sponsored terrorism. According to PTI report published on July 17, 2011, a decade long Maharashtra terror history has claimed the lives of around 500 people and left over 2200 people injured, but unfortunately except 26/11/2008 Mumbai terror attack case, no other case has either made headway for investigation or in the

legal system.

3. Even in 26/11 terror attack case, which killed 164 people and wounded at least 308, its mastermind Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed has been given clean chit by Pak govt on Sep 16, 2014. Indian govt has to satisfy itself till now just executing Ajmal Kasab on Nov 21, 2012

4. Even after this barbaric and heinous incident, many Pak sponsored bomb explosions have taken place in different parts of Maharashtra. After bomb explosions at Opera House, Zaveri Bazaar and Dadar on 13 July 2011, which killed 26 people, Congress leader Gurudas Kamat had slammed Maharashtra govt for not learning a lesson from 26/11 terror attacks. He had stated on Jul 17, 2011 that if 5,000 CCTV cameras had been set up in different parts of Mumbai, these bomb blasts could have been prevented.

5. Regrettably, Pak has also been succeeded in radicalising Indian Muslims. Azad Maidan Riots, which were broken out on 11 August 2012 stirred up torching vehicles, damaging buses, pelting stones, molesting women constables and desecrating Amar Jawan Jyoti memorial, dedicated to the fighters of First Indian Freedom Struggle 1857. Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray had slammed Congress-NCP led govt in his Saamna editorial August 14, 2012 for bowing before “anti-national” people and termed this riot with 26/11 terror attack.

6. Maharashtra is the soft target for Pak terrorism and reasons behind it include its being the traditional forte of mafia raj, close nexus between law enforcers and political leaders and weak Maharashtra government. Maharashtra DGP Dr Pasricha had hinted at political linkage to recent train serial blasts, but he was soon brow-beaten into silence.

7. Expressing his resolution to strictly counter the terrorism on

Maharashtra soil, state BJP President Devendra Fadnavis has envisioned the creation of specially trained and separate human force for helping concerned machineries in situations like terrorist attacks and riots. He also plans to deploy alert armed and trained commando for defence against terrorists attack in Mumbai, Aurangabad and Nagpur. His vision also includes separate 24 X 7 Natural Disaster Section of the state and implementation of Maharashtra Disaster Risk Mitigation Projects in all districts of state.
