A spa cover not only keeps your spa clean, it also improves the heat retention of your spa. A spa cover helps you increase the life span of your spa, so that you can enjoy a lot more pleasurable moments than otherwise. The first thing to be sure of is the size of the cover, such that it perfectly secures your spa. Also it should be made from durable material.

Never allow water to collect on top of the spa cover, which could make it bow. Rain or snow should be swept off gently. Your spa cover needs regular cleaning with water and mild soap. Avoid the use of petroleum cleaners. Only the handles should be used to open the cover. Lifting, hanging or yanking off the cover will cause wear and tear. The use of protectants is advisable.

If the weight of the cover is too much, a cover lifter is the best solution. Never leave the spa half open as trapped steam causes the foam board to deteriorate. The whole cover should be removed whenever the spa is to be used. The cover should be stood on end every once in a while to drain the excess moisture. Even though the foam board is protected by plastic film to avoid absorption of water, drainage prevents steam moisture from getting absorbed. Heat producing objects should be kept away from the cover to prevent the vinyl and foam from getting damaged. And of course, make sure your spa has only the required chemicals in the right proportions so that the cover and the spa do not deteriorate under the effect of chemicals.
