FEF STATEMENT ON THE SIGNING OF THE GRP-MILF PEACE AGREEMENT

We, the Foundation for Economic Freedom, congratulate the GRP and the MILF on

the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement with the Bangsamoro.

We also strongly support the passage of a Bangsamoro Basic Law that forms part of

the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and urge Congress to swiftly pass the bill into law.

Passage of the Basic Law will be a giant step toward peace and prosperity in Mindanao.

The lack of peace, law and order, and political instability have been identified as

constraints to doing business in Mindanao. The signing of a peace agreement with the MILF

will help address these constraints. The peace agreement, together with a clear set of

policies and the establishment of strong institutions, will encourage the entry of new

businesses and pave the way toward inclusive growth.
