Description:

The Potomac Meadow Water Quality Improvement Project was substantially completed on March 18, 2016, on time and within budget. The existing pond (ID# 0303DP) is located within the Pond Branch Watershed and is surrounded by River Bend Road on the east, Lagovista Court on the south, single family homes from west and wooded areas on the north. The work included retrofit of the existing drainage channel, replacement of driveway culverts, installation of a constructed stormwater wetland, installation of a bioswale and replacement of the existing top structure with a modified T-DI-7 top. The site was graded for positive drainage and restored with selective seed mix.

Project Overview:

The upper section of the project:

• Removal of the existing trickle ditch and construction of a 95’LX8’W BIOSWALE-2 • Treatment of the existing pond bottom area with compost amendment• Installation of a flow diverter weir at the concrete channel along Monalaine Court to divert the flow into the bioswale • Restoration of the disturbed area with seed mix and treesThe lower section of the project:• Replacement of the two existing 14”X23” RECP culverts with four 14”X23”RECP• Restoration of the disturbed driveway of property at 414 River Bend Road• Construction of a 105’ L X 8’ W BIOSWALE• Construction of two stormwater wetlands and two imbricated stone weirs• Replacement of the top of the existing structure with a new modified DI-7 top• Restored the disturbed area with seed mix and trees
