A renowned New Jersey cardiologist was injured severely in a drunk driving automobile accident in Hackensack, but it is the Excelsior Apartment complex that will be footing his medical bills. The complex was tasked with paying out nearly $7.5 million to Dr. Henry Lau after a jury found Excelsior responsible for allowing an underage party that served alcohol.

David Figueroa, 20 at the time of the

accident, sped into Lau early in the

morning while the doctor was walking his

dog. Lau, who was represented by New

York defense attorney Joe

Tacopina, suffered two broken legs, a

broken pelvis and back, and several

broken ribs. The apartment complex was

implicated in the accident due to its

hosting of a pool party where alcohol

was served and, apparently, IDs were

not checked.
