Contemporary Political Parties PAN (Partido Accion Nacional)

in English this is called the National Action Party. They are a centre-right Conservative Christian democratic party.

PRI (Partido RevolucionarioInstitucional) in English this is called the Institutional Revolutionary Party. They are a party that has held power in Mexico for more than 70 years. This is a socialist party.

PRD (Partido de la RevoluccionDemocratica) in English this is called the Party of the Democratic Revolution. This is a Democratic Socialist Party.

Major Economic Themes The economy of Mexico

is the 11th largest in the world.

Mexico is now both one of the world’s largest economies and one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

The economy has a stable growth rate at 7.6%

Even though the Mexican economy has improved greatly over the past two decades there are still huge class differences between the rich and the poor.

More Economic Themes The economy contains

rapidly developing modern industrial and service sectors, with increasing private ownership.

The most influential Free Trade Agreement is the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Mexico is greatly involved with their companies.

Mexico has 16 of the most important companies in the world according to a Forbes 2000 list.

Foreign Diplomatic Relations Foreign relations in Mexico

are managed by the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mexico has almost since its Spanish colonial years always had a trade agreement going on with other Latin American countries and the Carribean.

Former President Vicente Fox made a new policy in Mexico that said that Mexico would now begin to pay closer attention to disagreements from the International Community.

President Calderon pays especially close attention to other Latin American countries and the Carribbean in his foreign relations policies.
