In the immediate aftermath of the Haiti earthquake, it appeared that all of Port-au-Prince had been destroyed. However, most buildings had survived. This shows how we evaluated the damage and began the repair process.

• Over 200,000 structures were identified as safe

• Hundreds of thousands of people were able to return home

• The government and the international community had a detailed assessment of the actual damage
