GLOBAL WARMING RESEARCH By: Janae Hickey and Melissa DeCicco

Green house effect- Atmospheric heating phenomenon cause by short waved solar radiation being readily transmitted. Long wave lengths heat radiation is les transmitted and being absorbed by the Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and other gases. It warms the earth.

Climate Change- Long term change in the earths climate especially the change in the earths atmosphere temperature.

Global Warming- Increase in the earths average atmosphere temperature that causes change in climate.

WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING?

There Is more Carbon dioxide in the air because of the industrial level increase

On coolerclimate.com they think that humans are the main issue because of carbon dioxide levels in the air, methane, and Nitrogen Oxides from farming. Humans increased all of these gas levels

Fossil fuel emissions(carbon dioxide) Other Scientists think global warming could

occur because of natural causes like Sunspots, Volcanic eruptions, changes in earth’s orbit, and changes in earth’s orientation

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES IF WE DO NOT WORK TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING?

Food shortage Increase and more intense storms Rapidly rising sea levels Animal species will be wiped out Effects on humans in the future

HOW IS GLOBAL WARMING IMPACTING THE ECONOMY?

The good effects is that in colder areas in the U.S farm belt, global warming allowed a longer growing season

The bad effects are more forest fires in the summer, and increased air pollution killing 1,000 U.S residents for every 1 degree rise in temperature

WHAT ARE SEVERAL WAYS WE CAN ALL FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING

Reduce, Reuse and recycle Use less heat and air conditioning Change your light bulbs to the compact

floresent bulbs Walk and bike more rather then driving every

where Buy energy efficient products Use less hot water Turn the lights off when you leave the room Plant and grow trees All of these ways can help prevent global

warming, and fight it off

SOME BASIC ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING ARE…

That global climate computer models are too crude to predict future climate changes

Efforts to quickly reduce human greenhouse gas emissions would be costly and would not stop the climate from changing

That, the climate changes would be beneficial to the natural world and human civilization

Also, that most scientist tend to believe that humans are not the problem of the climate change

OUR PERSONAL THOUGHTS

Melissa –My opinion is that the

warming is a natural occurrence but, humans are making it increase and get warmer. So we should try to minimize the use of things that produce carbon dioxide and pollutants. We should also try to creat things what would help us if we can stop it from warming so quickly so if it comes to the worst we can have a way to live.

Janae-My opinion on global warming

is that it is a natural process that happens to our earth. Also I think that humans can help though. We can recycle, and buy energy saving products. Humans use so much gas and oil and other gases that are not good for our environment, so I think that we should try to cut a little bit down on that, but not go over board because it is a natural process.
