Masthead

The Masthead on a magazine is it’s brand name. It is usually

written in the biggest font size and right on the top of the

magazine with eye catching colors (in this case it is a

vibrant yellow-green), starting from one edge to the other.

When the brand of a magazine is well established it can

sometimes be overlapped by the anchoring image because

it’s regular readers are expected to recognize it.

Pug

Cover line

A pug looks like a sticker stuck on the front of a magazine cover. Another way of forming an article trailed but looks prettier due to the visible colors used, different from the rest of the colors of the cover (in this case the whole cover

is colored with the shades of dark green and the pug is of grey color which looks

totally different from the rest of the magazine). They are usually round and

on a side of the cover.

The Cover lines are the headlines of some important articles published in the magazine. It are written on the

cover of the magazine usually on one side left/right. It is to aware the buyer

about what will be available in the magazine, also to attract potential customers. These are written in a

smaller font size than the masthead and the Main Cover line.

Main ImageThe Main Image is the main figure/picture on the cover of a magazine. The image is usually related to the cover story of the magazine. It is also used to gain attention of the potential buyers

as it is about some important issue and of the same genre of the magazine. It is right in the center of the cover, the image

is usually of a mid shot but sometimes this trend can be

broken by using a long shot or a close shot.

Main Cover line

Buzz Word

A Buzz word is usually with the main feature or

article. It is used to attract the customer and

urges them to buy the magazine. Like in this case the Buzz Word is

“EXCLUSIVE” related to first look of an actor which encourages the customer to buy the magazine. The Buzz

Words are written in a very recognizable way so

that the buyer could easily see it.

The Main Cover Line is the main article in the magazine it is usually the main issue relating

to the genre of the magazine. This is also used for the same purpose, to attract

customers and compel them to buy the magazine. It is the second biggest in font size

than the masthead on the cover page. It is also written in a very bold way to catch the

eye.
