Today I am humbled to announce my bid for Mayor of the City of Detroit. This decision comes with deepest concern for the city's resilient citizens on the heels of a tipping point for a seemingly better future. Collectively we can move forward and evolve into a more inclusive community with a well thought out vision. Detroiters are ready to embrace a progressive agenda with new progressive leadership that shows concern for all people.

I Ken Snapp a dedicated Eastsider of Detroit and current resident have witnessed a lack of resolve when it comes to governing our city. During my travels, I have seen hardships of people in “forgotten areas” and the detriment this causes. It is my decision to run as Mayor of Detroit for one simple purpose, to be the public servant the city needs by creating a fair exchange of opportunity and advancement for every citizen.

The Latin Motto engraved upon our city’s flag, Speramus Meliora and Resurget Cineribus carries the meaning; “We hope for better things. It will rise from the ashes.” We’ve had our share of disappointment in this precious city. During a crucial time of change, I will ensure that the people of Detroit will be represented with integrity and led under a guise of transparency. It is time to rely on our public servants to stand for what's right. As future Mayor, I will put forth a progressive agenda unlike any existing blueprint in place which produces more of the same. Bridging gaps between government, communities, business, and labor is what we set out to do.

A great civic leader leans upon the core values learned from our countries founding fathers. Yes, small pockets of Detroit have become diverse, yet division still lingers in many forgotten areas. The onslaught of corruption has made people apathetic and adapted to a belief system which tells them better circumstances cannot become real for all citizens. We must make sure our city does not endure another era of the same lopsided experience. I am backed by people that want to be involved. We embrace a progressive agenda which acts upon the belief that a shared future is the next step for Detroit. I strongly support this City with a comprehensive strategy to confront the following essential Social Needs: Jobs● Housing ● Food ● Education ● Child Care ● Health Care.

I will work closely with the citizens of Detroit to lead this mission for Social Change.
