JCFS is about serving community and people in need every day.

• On Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Americans of every age and background celebrate Dr. King through service projects that strengthen communities, empower individuals, bridge barriers, and help communities come together.

• In 2011, the JCFS Dynamics of Difference Committee launched the MLK Day of Service event as a way to transform Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and teachings into community action. That service may meet a tangible need, or it may meet a need of the spirit.

• In 2012, JCFS staff once again commemorated the life of Dr. King and the idea of contributing to the fabric of our Chicago community by volunteering at nine community service projects across Chicago and beyond.
