Italy to have first expo for same-sex weddings

• It seems that there is a big commercial market for gay marriage in Italy even though the country does not recognize any type of same-sex unions (despite multiple legislative attempts to change that). Now Bologna, the seventh most populous city in Italy, is getting ready to dedicate a fair to same-sex marriages.

• At the Gay Bride Expo, which will be held on October 10-11, companies will be showcasing their products dedicated to wedding ceremonies, honeymoon travels, confectionary and catering, etc — all designed especially for ceremonies and receptions in which both partners are men or women.

• This is Italy’s first expo of this kind and it reveals how Italian businesses see the LGBT community as a potential opportunity for growth.

• The target group for this fair are Italian couples who have decided to get married overseas in countries where it’s legal but also want to have a ceremony at home, as well as foreign couples who are already married but want to celebrate in Italy.
