Use of Propaganda - Dr. Joseph Goebbels was in charge of propaganda for Hitler. You could only read, see and hear what the Nazis wanted you to. Books and films released to the public concentrated on certain issues : - The Jews, The greatness of Hitler, The way of life for a true Nazi. - The majority of propaganda use was mostly targeted at children and were taught at a young age Jews were bad.

Use of Propaganda

Loss of World War 1 and terms of the treaty of Versailles

• Hitler said how he wanted to abolish the Treaty. Many Germans agreed with this so they voted for him. This was because the treaty of Versailles took away many things from Germany mainly money and the right to an army. Treaty of Versailles had four aspects. Land, Reparations, War Guilt and Military

Hitler learns from his time in jail

• During his sentence in prison, he had time to

develop and organise his ideas. He studied mistakes made by previous rulers so

he could find better solutions. Meanwhile he also

wrote a book called “Mein Kampf” (My Struggles)

Germany's Glory Days And The Belief In The Power Of The Empire

• After World War 1, Germany was struggling. Hitler promised to restore the power in Germany and to bring back the spirit in the beginning.

Widespread Distrust Of The Jewish Population

• Throughout the holocaust, Hilter blamed the innocent Jewish people for many things, which caused people to turn against them and do what Hilter ordered. Kill all the Jews.

Weimar Republic - weak and divided

• The Weimar Republic was established after World War I. This was a weak democracy that was always associated with the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler managed to exploit the weaknesses of the Republic and play on peoples desires for a strong government that could solve Germany's many problems. Interestingly Hitler was elected into power as in late 1932 his Nazi Party was the largest party in the Weimar Republic. Once invited to form a government by Hindenburg he then sort to use his power to establish a dictatorship.

Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression

• Because of the Nazi party‘s views on anti-capitalism, the Nazi party used the Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression to their advantage. When the American Stock Exchange collapsed, America called in all of its foreign loans, which destroyed Weimar Germany. Unemployment in Germany rose to 6 million.

Economic Chaos and hyper-inflation of early 1920's

• The hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic was a three year period between June 1921 and July 1924. After losing WWI. Germany had to pay huge amounts of reparations because of the Treaty of Versailles which they manage to eventually. The allies did not believe this, and invaded Germans most valuable industrial area. The economy started to suffer since workers couldn’t produce goods. To repair the economy Germany started to print money.

Hitler's personality and skills

• Hitler's skills as a powerful persuasive speaker helped him to manipulated Germany into believing what he said. He was well organised and had many qualities of a good leader.

Use of Violence

• Hitler's willingness to use violence to get what he wanted led to a twelve-year reign and sparked a war that led to the deaths of some fifty million people.

Creation Of The Nazi Party 1920

• The German army sent Adolf Hitler to spy on the original group created by Anton Drexler. He was impressed by Hitler's ability to talk so he made him join. Later he managed to bribe and convince people to join. He also renamed the group called the Nazi Party and eventually became the leader.

• By Portraying a world where everything was back on track…………….

• His idea’s sound more appealing to his audience which makes his speech more persuasive. This helped Hitler's rise.
