INTRODUCTION !Surat is known for its Surti cuisine, which includes perennial favorites such as Ghari (a type of mithai or sweetmeat), Locho, Undhiyu, Rasaawala Khaman, and Surti Chinese. Surti cuisine is not as sweet as other Gujarati food, and is quite spicy. Roadside kiosks, called "laaris" or "rekdis", are popular. In the cooler winter months, Surtis converge at river Tapi's banks to eat Ponk, a roasted cereal that is available only in this part of the world. !All major Indian festivals are celebrated in Surat. Navratri, Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated with great enthusiasm. The kite-flying festival of Utaraayan which falls on Makar Sankranti (14 January) is very popular in the city. It is also well known for the celebration of Chandi Padvo which usually occurs around October and is a holiday unique to Surat. This day comes after one of the two biggest full moon days of the Hindu calendar year, "Sharad Purnima". On this day, Surtis buy almost 100 tons of Ghari and other Surti delicacies, and head to the city's seaside beach area, Dumas where they have dinner and a late night snack under the full moonlit sky. Classical music and dance have their patrons, and so does the modern stage and pop culture. The culture and the traditions are both alive and being forever experimented with. AIESEC in Surat is well known for its Scale of Events and the exposure that the youth gets out of it. Events known as Youth 2 Business and Balakalakaar has been our BCP from past 3 years. !!!!!!!

Growth in ELD

AIESEC as an organization has bene3itted me a lot. When it comes to individual learning, i have developed myself in various aspects and 3ields, some of them will be my communication skills have improved, I have had good exposure with externals, corporates, clients and our stakeholders. AIESEC has showed me a path where i think my future lies, developing business negotiation skills at this age is not what any organization offers. Leading a team or organizing committees to deliver something new which has not happened before. It is a platform for me where I can experiment with my ideas and also innovate around the original. I have given 20 months to this organization and somewhere i have failed and somewhere i have been successful. Delivering events, managing operations & 3inance and building the brand of AIESEC in Surat were my contributions to AIESEC. !AIESEC Surat in the ER portfolio from 2011 has been delivering events. It has been working on its Board of Advisors so as to gain more support from there. The portfolio is also developing the brand of AIESEC in the local market and has successfully delivered to a great number of clients and corporates in the past. Client Relation management has been weak, and also minimum conversion from EwA to ELD with that also no focus on NEP. !In my term, I have delivered 7 events and have given the local committee 5 Board of Advisors, which was never done in the local committee. Importance of BD as a portfolio in the LC is well understood. There are times when the market in in the poor condition and there are lack of funds but in my term I went through everything worse possible, but everything came out well in the end. !In BD, things dont go the way you want, but thats the best part because handling that crisis management helps you evolve your event and also bring a lot of innovations into it. !Balakalakaar 2013 was the last event that me as an EBC delivered with a total in3low of Rs. 2. Lakhs, I believe that AIESEC Surat’s delivered best Balakalakaar by measuring the success through the clients and the press passing on the round of appreciation for AIESEC Surat for delivering such an event at this scale. !So all in all the best part of being in BD is that you tend to grow both externally and internally. Your negotiation skills are at the peak and crisis management is the best thing which you can learn from this portfolio apart from soft skills.
