Appeasement basically means ‘giving in to a bully’.
This was done to avoid another devastating World
war.
Vs
Chamberlain was the Prime Minister during the time of Appeasement. He was the
main person behind the policy of Appeasement. He is famous
for returning from Germany with ‘peace in our time’ after
making a deal with Hitler over the Munich Crisis.
Churchill was the main opponent of Appeasement as he saw Hitler as an aggressive
dictator that needed to stopped. He strongly believed
that Appeasement was wrong, but he was eventually proved
right when Hitler invaded Poland.
