Regional and Country Activities
One event at each of our five regional offices. Each of our 150 country offices will celebrate the event by extending World Population Day activities through the campaign period with:
• media events• youth activities• photo exhibits & contests
7 Messages for 7 Billion
The Big Picture: The World’s population is slowly stabilizing
Sustainability: 7 billion people, and counting, depend on the health of the planet
Women: Improving reproductive health and opportunities for women accelerates progress
Youth: Young people are the solution, not the problem
Lower Fertility + Longer Lives = a new challenge: Aging populations
Urbanization: Future population growth will be absorbed by smaller cities
Migration: More people are being pushed, or pulled, to leave their homes
UN System Involvement Reach out to other UN agencies in May/June Ask them to plan an event or create a web module connecting their mandate to a population issue. Examples:
