Example: Iron Maiden Iron Maiden is an English heavy metal

band. Their music is loud and sounds like Beethoven with an electric guitar.

Even though their imagery is based on “Eddie”, a corpse, they do no worship the devil or such!

If you listen to some of their lyrics, they are actually talking about historical events, such as WWII, the Crimean war or imaginary nuclear wars.

Where do they get inspiration for such lyrics?!

The Trooper Written by bassist and

founder-member Steve Harris, the song is based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854, which took place during the Crimean War.

Inspired by Lord Tennyson's poem of the same name.

The single's accompanying music video included clips of a cavalry battle from the 1936 film the Charge of the Light Brigade, starring Errol Flynn.

This song is based on the Crimean War, which was fought by the Russians and the Ottoman Empire (England, France, and Sardinia).

Trooper Lyrics

“The horse, he sweats with fear, we break to run

The mighty roar of the Russian guns

And as we race towards the human wall

The screams of pain as my comrades fall”

“Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

'Forward, the Light Brigade!'

Was there a man dismay'd ?

Not tho' the soldier knew

Some one had blunder'd:

Theirs not to make reply,

Theirs not to reason why,

Theirs but to do & die,

Into the valley of Death

Rode the six hundred.

Cannon to right of them,

Cannon to left of them,

Cannon in front of them

Volley'd & thunder'd;

Storm'd at with shot and shell,

Boldly they rode and well,

Into the jaws of Death,

Into the mouth of Hell

Rode the six hundred.

What have we learned today?

We can apply random knowledge of historical events to our daily lives.

We can also use this knowledge to create new ways of art.

We also used a heavy metal song to learn History!
