OnePlus is planning to make OnePlus 3Tin India from 2017The Chinese smartphone company, OnePlus is planning to make OnePlus 3T in India

from 2017. The manufacturing is said to commence from early next year to meet the rapid

demand in India. India is the second biggest smartphone market for the OnePlus 3T.

IDC ranked OnePlus, the third-biggest seller of premium smartphone selling over $300

India, coming right behind Samsung Electronics and China’s Oppo.

At the beginning of this year, it halted a 2015 manufacturing deal it had with Foxconn Technology Co Ltd to produce its mid-end X phones in

Southern India. The general manager of OnePlus’s Indian Vikas Agarwal said that the company is facing supply crunch. Ever since the

company has dropped the invite-only approach, demands have reached an unexpected level. OnePlus is importing devices from China.

However, the company is expecting to start assembling in India by the beginning of 2017.

CMR report publishes in June revealed that OnePlus had become one of the top five in the high-end smartphone market bagging 6.1 percent

market share this year. This segment includes smartphone priced at Rs. 20,000 and covers about five percent of the total smartphone market

in the nation.

Samsung lead the premium segment along with 44 percent market share, followed by Apple covered 27.3 percent, while Sony and HTC

bagged 8.3 percent and 7.6 percent respectively.

Agarwal stated that India is one of the top markets for OnePlus and OnePlus One was launched in the country the country didn’t expect a high

growth.

OnePlus manufactures all it handsets in its facility based in Shenzhen, China, which manufactures around 500,000 devices per month.

Agarwal said that the company has decided to phase out OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 as the company has decided to keep only one or two

flagship devices. Further, the company is working on its next device that might be launched by the middle of 2017.
