why use appcity?

Bidding sites don’t provide the necessary framework for organisations looking to develop high value apps, and tender sites in addition to being expensive, are often guilty of posting irrelevant projects poorly matched to individual requirements. Appcity is the worlds first online tender portal dedicated exclusively to apps. There are no subscription fees or contracts, simply apply only for the tenders that sound like a good fit for your capabilities.

faqWhat is appcity?appcity is the only online Tender portal dedicated to the development of all app types. Whether you develop apps specifically for iPhones, or your range extends to game platforms and Smart TVs; appcity is the only site where you will find tenders for all of these in one place.

Why should I use appcity? There are no contracts associated with appcity, simply apply only for the Tenders that seem like a good fit for your skill set.

How does appcity work?appcity works by enabling organisations access to a dedicated group of app developers who operate across a wide discipline of operating systems and platforms.

The organisations or ‘Publishers’ can then upload an app Tender to the site to receive qualified bids from App Developers.

How does a Tender differ to any normal pitch?Tenders are usually reserved for higher value projects, where the organisation publishing the work needs to seek proposals from a wide variety of professionals; this enables them to source the most qualified person/company for the project through a formal application process.

What are the benefits of Tenders?Tendering enables anyone to apply for a specific project, and prevents organisations from simply passing work on to their preferred suppliers. Less formal, pitch-based applications are a more

straight forward procedure whereby the client will approach an app developer directly and commission the work; however, this does not provide an adequate procurement framework for organisations seeking to publish higher value apps.

What is a Tender?A Tender is a formal request by an organisation for professionals to submit proposals for completing the aforementioned project.

What is a Publisher?Organisations using appcity to find app developers are referred to as ‘Publishers’, because they are publishing Tenders on the site. Commonly referred to as ‘clients’, we view all those that use appcity as clients and therefore don’t want to make that distinction.

faq developerHow is payment arranged for the Developer? How is payment arranged for the Developer? Remuneration is organised strictly between the Developer and the Publisher. We recommend that a contract detailing the payment structure is drawn-up and signed by both parties prior to any work commencing.

Are all Tenders on appcity verified?Every Tender that is submitted to appcity is vetted and rigorously analysed to ensure both quality and validity. No Tender that is submitted to the site is published unless it has been verified by one of our team.

How do I know when new Tenders are published? You can adjust your email subscriptions to receive emails on either a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

Can I apply for a Tender once the deadline has expired? You have the option of contacting the Publisher directly to request an extension. However, Tenders are strict procedures and any proposals received after the stated deadline are generally not considered.

Tips for developing successful Tender applications:1. Be honest and realistic about what you

can achieve – if the requirements of the Tender extend beyond your current skill set, either seek to partner with someone who can fulfill the need or do not apply.

2. Focus on the client’s needs – following the client’s instructions and supplying the requested information are matters of common sense, yet it is surprising how many bids fail in this respect. It is critical

to gain in-depth knowledge about a client’s business environment, strategies and objectives before starting to prepare the bid.

3. Match the bid to the opportunity – successful bids never come from a ‘one-size fits all’ template. Cater your proposal specifically to the client’s individual needs. It is futile to submit a proposal that does not communicate distinctive benefits, both in terms of technical quality and value for money.

faq publisherHow do I upload a Tender?Simply log-in to your account and navigate to the Publishers Dashboard and click on the tab ‘Submit your Tender’. From there you will be able to either manually input all of the required text, or upload the Tender documents.

What are the costs for publishing a Tender?Publishing a Tender is absolutely FREE! However, you may wish to opt in for the premium ad space to enhance your Tender’s visibility. See ad packages for details.

How is appcity involved in the Tender process?appcity exists to connect App Developers with organisations looking to get apps developed. Once correspondence has started between the developer and the publisher, that is the extent of appcity’s involvement in the process.

Any issues that may arise during the actual application process will need to be resolved between the Developer and the Publisher.

What happens if we need to cancel the Tender? The Publisher may remove the Tender due to unforeseen circumstances; in this instance they will need to contact appcity directly using the contact form.

The following will then take place:

appcity will contact all developers who have applied for the project directly to inform them of the cancellation

appcity will refund tokens to the value of those exchanged for the Tender application

Any costs paid by the Publisher are non-redeemable

How do we award a Tender?Once you have evaluated all bids and proposals, it is up to you the Publisher to contact the winning Developer directly.

What information do I need to put in the description? The description should be a short summary of your app requirements in no more than 200 words. Information that should NOT be included in the description includes:

Contact name

Telephone number

E-mail address

Website

Any Tender submitted for evaluation that does not meet these requirements will be rejected.

strategic partnerships There are currently two areas of the site where we can offer our partners advertising space.

Primarily, we are looking to feature Strategic Partners on our home page, beneath the ‘appcity process’ text. This page receives high levels of traffic and significant dwell time relative to industry standard. Your company’s logo will feature prominently and we are imposing a limit of six featured partnerships within this section.

strategic partnerships There are currently two areas of the site where we can offer our partners advertising space.

When a Publisher submits a tender, they are re-directed to a ‘Thank you’ page that features the standard advertising packages across internal pages within the site. There is a section below where our partners can advertise their particular products at grass-roots level of the tender process. This encourages Publishers to think about how your product/service could be of benefit to their app campaign prior to any development phases.
