Skiing is a 4500-5000 year old sport that first appeared in ancient rock drawings found in Norway. The earliest ski was found in Sweden near a village called Kalvträsk in 1924. This is just some of the concrete proof that people have been shredding for thousands of years. Skiing has come a long way though; from wooden planks, to skinny skis, to twin tips. Now with new skiing technology you can shred the gnar with seamless style and ease!

Before you start this awesome sport….

You must know the…..

ALPINE CODE OF RESPONSIBILITY(Don’t worry. It’s only ten simple rules.)

Page 4: Skiing

1. Always stay in control. You must stop, or avoid, other people or objects. (For example: Small children and trees)

2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.3. Don’t stop where you obstruct the trail, or are not visible from above. (No tea

parties in the middle of the run!)4. Before starting down hill or merging trail, look uphill and yield to others.5. If you are involved in or witness a collision/accident you must remain at the scene

and identify your self to ski patrol. (For example: “Hello, my name is Bill.”)6. Always use proper devices to help prevent runaway equipment.7. Observe and obey all posted signs and warnings. (For example: Giant Cliff Ahead!)8. Keep off closed trails and obey all area closures.9. You must not use lifts or terrain if your ability is impaired through the use of alcohol

or drugs.10. You must have sufficient physical dexterity, ability, and knowledge to safely load,

ride, and unload lifts. If in doubt ask a lift attendant.
