Define your target audience before you start to produce content

It is very important to recognise who will see the content you create. Don’t think only about your customers who arealready aware of your brand and your company’s values. Think about all those people who are yet to come acrossyour brand. What are the messages about your brand you want them to see? What perceptions do you want tocreate about your brand?

Transformational content

Find and analyse the most engaging content you have created so far. Ask yourself “What made this content moreengaging than any of the other content we have created?”. When you recognise and define what type of contenttransforms a visitor into a customers, you will have a better understanding about what winning content looks like foryour brand.

Create evergreen content

What makes content evergreen? Evergreen content is content which is relevant for a long period of time. Suchcontent is not news-related. It aims to provide advice and information which will be just as useful as it is today.

Finding the holy grail

If you write your content based on keyword research and analysis, find long-tail keywords which have lowcompetitiveness and a lot of traffic. It can be challenging but it is not impossible. Starting to optimise for long-tailkeywords with low competitiveness and high traffic can be incredibly rewarding at the start of your Search EngineOptimisation journey.

Be original

Times and times again we have seen how original content goes viral. In the virtual space of over-sharing andinformation overload, we need something very different to grab our target audience’s attention. I’ll include belowsome of my personal favourite pieces of content which made me more than intrigued to research the brand whichcreated them. Enjoy!
