In my presentation I would like to describe

about Social Marketing in Child Care sector,especially to save the girl child in India.Social Marketing can play an important roleto save the girl child in India because Socialmarketing is an approach used to developactivities aimed at changing or maintainingpeople's behavior for the benefit ofindividuals and society as a whole.

Goal of this presentation:

Social marketing is an approach used todevelop activities aimed at changing ormaintaining people’s behavior for the benefitof individuals and society as a whole. Socialmarketing seeks to influence social behaviorsnot to benefit the marketer but to benefit thetarget audience and the general society.

Definition of social marketing:

Accept a new behavior.

Reject a potential behavior.

Modify a current behavior.

Abandon an old behavior.

Vision of social marketing.

Girl child killing is a most popular social problem in India

and few other third world countries (for example Bangladesh, Nepal etc).

Birth of a female child brings along with the worries of all the expenses of her marriage. Investing on her for her upbringing, education is equaled to a zero return on investment, as she will take away all that to another family once she is married. She is perceived as a high maintenance liability right from her birth.

Social problem in south Asian countries.

investment.To avoid the expenses of her marriage.Traditionally only a male can carry forward the

family and family name.Forced into abortion by relative.Registered and unregistered clinics.Government rules (most populated country)

Why girl child are generally killed:

In today’s day and age most couples prefer theprocess known as a planned pregnancy, becauseof various factors; prime amongst them being thefinancial well being to support the birth andnurturing of a child. In such cases, the firstprenatal visit actually happens prior to actualpregnancy, to see whether one is ready to go offthe contraception pills and conceive a baby.

This social evil is deep rooted in Indian ethos

and the most shocking fact is that the innovativeand hard high end technologies are brutallykilling the Indian girl child. Innovativetechniques, like biopsy, ultrasound, scan testsand amniocentesis, devised to detect geneticabnormalities, are highly misused by number offamilies to detect gender of the unborn child.These clinical tests are highly contributing to therise in genocide of the unborn girl child.

Now a days in India the government and different

NGOs are using social marketing approach to savethe girl child. Different advertisement has beenshown by the government to show the importance ofgirl child. The advertisements are so much touchingthat common people will think many times beforekilling a girl child.

A social marketing approach to save the girl child

Conclusion

So, we can say that thegeneral Indian behavior andattitude regarding girl childcan be changed through socialmarketing. It can be so helpfulto save the girl child in India.

Social Marketing is importantand necessary to save the girlchild and in India governmentis also trying to save the girlchild by using SocialMarketing technique.
