A. Executive summary

A – General sequel movie’ watching data

[1] Going to cinema in once a month

• Most respondents go to cinema in once a month (27.8%), followed by less than 1 time/ month and 2-3 times/

month which respectively account for 24.1 % and 23.9 %.

• Not as a male group, 2.7 % female go to cinema in 2-3 times/week. Once a week for 16.9 %. For male

respondents, 6.6 % male go to cinema 2-3 times/week and once a week for 21.4 %.

[2] 36.7 % watch sequel movie in less than 1 time/month

• Frequency of watching sequel movie at cinema is less than once a month (36.7%), followed by once a month and

2-3 times/ month which respectively account for 30.8 % and 18.8 %.

• Both male and female are watching sequel movie at cinema in less than 1 time/ month, which respectively account

33.6 % and 40.6 %.

[3] Action movie as a favorite genre sequel movie• Most of respondents choose an action movie as a favorite genre of sequel movie (82.0 %), adventure and comedy

are followed (60.0 % and 45.3 %).

• Action movie becomes a favorite genre of sequel movie both for male and female, which respectively account 88.6

% and 74.0 %.

[4] 89.0 % respondents know Harry Potter• Harry Potter (89.0 %) becomes the first type of sequel movie known, then followed by Transformers (88.8 %) and

Iron Man (86. 9%).

• For female, they choose Harry Potter series as a known sequel movie and Transformers by male, which

respectively account for 93.6 % and 87.5 %.

A. Executive summary

[5] Iron Man belongs to Top 3• Top 3 sequel movie that has ever watched consists of Harry Potter, Transformers and Iron Man. Which

respectively account 77.6 %, 73.5 % and 70.2 %.

• Most of male respondents have ever watched Transformers (76.4 %). Different with male, female respondents

have their own choice which is Harry Potter for 83.1 %.

[6] Harry Potter is the most preferred sequel movie• Most respondents choose Harry Potter as a favorite or the most preferred type of sequel movie, which respectively

acoount 77.6 %.

• 24.7 % male respondents choose Fast and Furious as a favorite or most preferred type of sequel movie. The

second position belongs to Iron Man and Harry Potter (15.5 %). For female, Harry Potter still become the most

preferred type for female respondents (29.7%).

[7] A huge reason is being curious with next story• Being curious with next story (72.2 %) can affect respondents to like sequel movie, the second reason is

appearing new plot which is more interesting (67.6 %).

• Due to being curious with next story, both male or female has a similar reason to like sequel movie (69.0 % and

76.3 %).

[8] 56.5 % accompanied by family• Most respondents were accompanied by their family while watching sequel movie (56.5 %). Followed by friends

and boyfriend/ girlfriend which respectively account 56.3 % and 34.5 %.

• Most of male respondents were accompanied by family (56.5 %), otherwise female respondents were

accompanied by friends (61.2 %).

[9] Rarely after 23.00• Mostly, the respondents usually watch sequel movie at 19.01 – 21.00 (62.7 %) and rarely after 23.00 (5.3 %).

• There’s a similar time between male and female respondents. Most of them watch sequel movie at 19.01 – 21.00

(64.6 % and 60.3 %) and rarely after 23.00 (6.6 % and 3.7 %).

[10] Common price is started from Rp 50,0001 – Rp 150,000• 55.9 % the expenditure for watching movie per month is started from Rp 50,001 – Rp 150,000 commonly.

• 50.9 % for male and 62.1 % for female pay from Rp 50,001 – Rp 150,000 commonly and pay more than Rp

350,000 rarely.Which respectively account for male (3.7 %) and female (2.3 %).

[11] There’s no difference between male and female• Popcorn still become a popular snacks among all of respondents. 53.1 % for male and 58.4 % for female.

• 55.5 % of all respondents usually consume popcorn while watching movie. Otherwise Nachos is in last choice for

0.4 %.

[1] An important source is from electronic media• 75.5 % respondents know about new sequel movie’s information from electronic media. Followed by

advertisement for 61.4 % and social media for 54.3 %.

• No difference between male and female respondents. Electronic media still become an important source for giving

an update information about new sequel movie. For male (73.4 %) and female (78.1 %).

Most of respondents choose an action movie as a favorite genre of sequel movie (82.0 %), adventure and comedy

are followed (60.0 % and 45.3 %).

% and 74.0 %.
