Here is the primary audience conducted in our research...BC1C2 males aged 14 - 45 who thrive in the world of unknown and experimentation in science. Typical viewers are young adults that enjoy the sciences of comic books and action packed gaming with minds that expand from the norm. They are avid gamers with high interests in technology and exceptionally literate in sci-fi literature (such as comics) as well as other films and franchises. They are exceptionally smart when producing theories to challenge the ways of society as well as technology and other ideas. Appearances are not important to them but their love of the unknown and research highlights their intellect and their passion for action and the exploration of issues that expand society as well as the universe beyond our solar system."Primary Audience Media Interests Initially, we decided that our audience would fit the explorer psychographic as they would be attracted to the action that is within our opening sequence and the suspense created especially at the end of the sequence. Like our opening sequence, they would love the excitement in the adventure that surrounds the main character within the sequence. Although our audience does fit this psychographic, other psychographics such as the reformers may have an interest in our film due to the narration that is established within our opening sequences that feature aspects that challenge society and feature aspects of personal freedom especially as seen within the main character that is introduced towards the end of our sequence.Psychographic Profile After using BFI, we found some research that challenges our initial primary profile especially when concerning gender:The Hunger Games franchise fits into our sub-genre of cyberpunk as it is set in a futuristic setting but as aspects of society issues. This shows us that our opening sequence may be popular with females as well as males thus widening the people our sequence and film is aimed at.In addition to the wider variety in audience concerning gender, statistics from 2013 show that sci-fi was the 4th most popular genre:BFI ResearchAfter doing some further research, we looked at the top films this year (2016) and within the top ten, we found that TheDivergent Series: Allegiantmade it to number 8 which is another example of our chosen sub-genre as the series is set in a futuristic time period with social issues that challenge the main characters which is a similar theme that runs throughout our opening sequence. By looking at these statistics, it shows us that there is a place for our genre and opening sequence in the market with a mass audience.Box Office Stats After looking at www.bbfc.co.uk, we looked between the 12A rating and the 15 rating to classify our opening sequence which does not hold any references to violence. However, after researching other films that are under the cyberpunk genre, most films hold strong violence and are rating 15 (as seen in the screen shots below). Because of this, and in consideration of our primary audience profile we decided to rate our film 15 as there may be further aspects of strong themes such as violence that run out throughout the rest of the film. Furthermore, plot lines and the context of the film may become complex plot lines that younger viewers may find dull whereas an older audience would understand and find interesting - however, it is the violence that would be of main concern to the younger viewers thus our decision to rate it at 15.Age RatingClick to edit Master title style
