Bauer Media (cont.)

Bauer Media publishes Kerrang!, which is a magazine that features the same music genres as my own and has a similar target audience. This may increase my chances of the company accepting my product, as a similar product they distribute is quite successful. However, it could also be a reason for the company to reject it. Since they already distribute a similar magazine to my own, they may feel that accepting my product may generate an unhealthy competition, or that my product may not generate as much profit as the other one.

DistributionThere are many ways magazines are distributed; through venues, online platforms, promotions on websites, subscription-only, or traditional weekly/monthly sales at retail stores. My magazine would be more successful if it was distributed online, freely at venues, or monthly at retail stores at a low price. This is because, according to my research, my target audience are young people who are unemployed or part-time employed. This means they will have a limited amount of money to spend; in fact, in my survey many replied that they typically only spend between £0-£4 on magazines. This means that if I sold my product at a store, the price would have to be in that range. Also, in my reader profile survey I received results that said that my target audience typically spend over 4 hours on the internet per day. This would make online distribution more desirable.
