This contents page is structured purposely so that it is easy to read, the titles of each column down the right hand side are in a bold font so that they stand out and can easily be read by the audience.

The main image, which in this particular case is Katy Perry, is making direct eye contact with the reader, therefore making the reader feel involved and also gives off a mysterious vibe which will entice the reader and make them want to read what is inside. Also, in the image she is wearing a red skirt which matches the colour of the inflatable mushroom which she is holding, which is aesthetically pleasing for the audience and so there is more chance of them wanting to read on inside to see if there are more aesthetically pleasing colours.

The background colour may be seen as bland and quite boring but it is a huge contrast to the mushroom which seems completely out of place. This unfamiliar contrast will make the reader want to read the magazine as it will intrigue them, ,making them want to read why the mushroom is there in the first place.

The word ‘contents’ is slightly covered by the mushroom, which adds to the mystery and irregularity of the page altogether, which is also another reason why the audience may want to read on, as unusual things are a massive selling point with audiences as they are more likely to want to read about it, to see what is going on.

Here, with this picture of Adele, she is giving direct eye contact with the audience, therefore engaging the reader with the article and making them feel like she is personally wanting to read it.

The titles for each section of pages is in bold, so that it stands out to the reader more and is clearer to read. Also, the columns help to make them look more organised, which shows that the magazine is sophisticated and professional, therefore we are more likely to trust what they write/print. The page number is clearly

labelled for the most important article in the magazine. We know it is the most important as the image takes up more than half of the contents page, so the fact that they have made the page number larger than the rest of the page numbers highlights the importance of the article.

The colour scheme for this magazine, black and red, has the connotations of sophistication and so would be associated with adults. This is because adults are more likely to read this magazine, seeing's though Adele is also an adult, and so this appeals to the older generation of people, rather than young children.
