WHAT GPR DEVICES CAN DO

Depending upon the type of device that is used, there are limits to what they are able to pick up. The frequencies that are used in order to map the subsurface areas can also be disrupted by electrical conductivity picked up in the area.

Without frequencies disturbing the radar that is being sent into the ground, the depth of penetration can increase exponentially only inhibited by what lies beneath the surface in terms of minerals and soil.

The best resolution tends to come from higher frequencies that are sent into the ground opposed to lower frequencies. High frequencies have shorter waves, making their range very limited. Several hundred meters is probably the extent of the mapping possibilities.
