The  key  film  challenges

• More  and  more  video  is  being  used  in  qualita@ve  research  projects

• ‘Mining’  and  edi@ng  this  content  is  hugely  @me-‐consuming

• Typically,   content   is   used   for   a  specific  project,  but  then  becomes  redundant  with  very  limited  ‘shelf-‐life’

GeDng  more  from  film    Being  able  to  search  video  content  would  make  the  process  much  easier.    Our   solu@on   has   been   to   build   a   system  that:  • Allows  you  to  search  the  spoken  word  • Edit   content   directly   based   upon   the  spoken  word

• Save   significant   amounts   of   @me   from  the  edi@ng  process

• Share  content  directly  with  stakeholders,  giving   them   access   to   explore   videos  themselves  in  an  engaging  way

An  unexpected  benefit:  How  a  client  is  using  the  plaLorm...

TalkTalk  are  the  UK's  leading  value  for  money  provider  of  TV,  fixed  line  broadband,  voice  telephony  and  mobile  services  to  consumers  and  business  users.    They  serve  5  million  customers  across  the  UK  under  the  TalkTalk,  AOL  Broadband  and  TalkTalk  Business  brands.

TalkTalk  have  used  our  pladorm  to  enable  their  senior  management  group  to  watch,  explore  and  engage  with  customer  video  feedback.    It  has  increased  the  ease  with  which  the  Insight  func@on  can  find  relevant  customer  feedback  content,  and  the  level  with  which  senior  management  are  excited  and  engaged  with  customer  research.

Top  *ps  for  working  with  film    • Form  hypotheses  that  you  can  test,  or  develop  as  prompts  and  ques@ons  within  your  film  ‘spoken  word’  –  it  will  make  it  easier  to  find  key  words  or  phrases  later

•  If  possible,  get  your  film  transcribed  –  you  can  read  faster  than  you  can  watch!

• Consider  dynamically  linking  your  transcript  to  your  film  • Once  you  have  some,  or  all,  of  these  resources,  consider  reviewing  old  project  film  content  for  future  same  client  briefs

• Give  clients  access  to  film  to  further  engage  senior  stakeholder  in  insight
