MRG Foundation Website Redesign
2009 Website When MRG’s website was last redesigned in 2009, it was a big step forward from a static brochure, to a more dynamic platform. But by 2014, it was time for a complete overhaul. I led MRG through the process of honing our brand, redesigning our site, and transitioning from Drupal to Wordpress.
2014 Homepage The top priorities when redesign the site were streamlining the look, focusing on bold images and strategic calls to action,
highlighting the most important information and messages, and improving usability for both MRG
staff and visitors.
To get there, I facilitated internal strategic planning and
coordinated the production and feedback process amongst
vendors and between vendors and MRG’s fundraising and
program staff.
Case for Giving
The giving page was streamlined to focus on the
ways gifts make a difference to MRG’s work and clear calls to
action. We then created dedicated pages to provide in-
depth information for major donors about more complex
forms of giving.
The case for giving was a cluttered, text-based page
with little compelling content and too many options for most
donors.
Grants Archive MRG’s grants archive is an
essential tool for all of MRG’s audiences – helping grantees and donors alike get a clear sense of what kinds of work MRG funds.
In addition to a cleaner look, the new archive has a robust set of search and sort options and is
integrated with MRG’s database through the CiviCRM API, saving
significant staff time and ensuring the information is
always up to date.
People & Stories
Across the new site, we prioritize bold images
and strong headlines – working to connect users to compelling stories and profiles of social change
in Oregon.
A Mobile-Responsive Site MRG’s 2009 site was built before smartphones and mobile websites were ubiquitous, but in 2014 having a website that worked equally well on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops was essential. All of the features, functions, and calls to action on MRG’s new site scale up and down, ensuring all of our users can get the most out of our
content.
