SUPERFOODSSUPER EASY

We saw lots of new, ancient, and exotic superfood

ingredients added to everyday foods to provide

extraordinary, easy nutrition!

Superfoods meet deep, dark

chocolate. The Vosges bar

combines reishi, the “mushroom

of immortality”—thought to

help the body resist and adapt

to a variety of stressors—with

walnuts, one of the few rich

sources of plant-derived

omega-3 fatty acids. Wellness

meets indulgence.

SUPERGRAINS

Ancient grains such as Freekah,

Amaranth, Teff and Millet are

coming out boasting super

health benefits that traditional

flours and wheat products

just don’t have. They lower

cholesterol and are packed with

protein, fiber, and vitamins.

SUPERSEEDSThese nutritional powerhouses

are loaded with healthy oils,

fiber, disease-fighting minerals

& enzymes, antioxidants and

proteins—in spreads and

snack packs.

RAWVOLUTION

WONDER-FULLY RAW

GO RAW

BRAD’S RAW

A raw food diet is generally rich in

plant-based foods including fruits

and vegetables; nuts and seeds; and

sprouted seeds, grains, and beans.

Technically, it is defined as unprocessed

food that is not heated above 115º F.

With hectic, busy schedules, eating

raw foods can be hard to keep up, so

now we are seeing raw goodies that are

more accessible and convenient.

The brand offers

both raw desserts

and savory snacks.

Also called out on

packaging are claims

of gluten-free, low

glycemic and live food.

A line of seed-based

products offering sweet

and savory healthful

snacks—100% organic and

live. Plant this product

and it will actually grow!

Crunchy kale chips

satisfy the craving to

crunch with the benefit

of being delicious

and nutritious.

TWO MOMS IN THE RAWFounded by a Mother of

three with the help of her

Mother these snacks are

raw, 100% organic,

and handmade.

We saw the introduction

of innovative spreads and

new spread flavors that will

make the possibilities for

dressing up breads, chips

and bagels endless.

Spread the word

Hope Foods brings the best of both worlds to the spreads category by expanding to sophisticated savory flavors and sweet, indulgent favorites.

Their hummus line includes flavors such as Thai Coconut Curry and Sriracha, while the spreads line made with garbanzo beans features dark chocolate coconut and dark chocolate chile.

Blue Isle marries the spreadable texture found in cream cheese with the probiotic benefits of yogurt in their line of Mediterranean Yogurt Spreads, featuring flavors such as Honey and Spicy Vegetable.

DESIGN TRENDS4 It wasn’t just the food that got all the attention at the show—package design shared the spotlight. This year designs demonstrated intriguing polarity, borrowing cues from feminine fashion trends and, in contrast demonstrating a masculine aesthetic. Likewise, it was made loud and clear that while white and simple still prevail, black is certainly back.
