I believe Patrick had a strong position going into the deal. He had more

headsup experience at both short and deep stack depths, momentum and

obviously a 4-1 chip lead.Negotiations were slow and arduous, Patrick wanted

more money and Will didn’t want to budge much. All signs looked like we were going to play; and then I had an

idea.

My Goal Was to Get Patrick the Best Deal Possible

Thanks to the one flight a day from Dublin to East Midlands my day was off to a 5:30 start and trip to the airport, I was in Nottingham by

10AM and managed to blag early check in at my hotel and catch some zzz’s, result! Day 1 was pretty uneventful, I managed to avoid many difficult spots at a tough table and found myself chipping up

steadily, The one annoying spot I found myself in was a hand right at the end of the day against a very tough opponent and good friend of

mine Dominik Nitsche, We are 6 handed and I raise to 3600 from HJ+1 at 1600/800/200 with kd js,Dominik calls from the big blind.

The weather was for the most part great and I ended up walking far more than I’ve walked in a long time, averaging

14km a day! This extra exercise definitely helped me feel slightly less guilty about enjoying some amazing food in the mornings and evenings.

The Melbourne bar scene is awesome. I met up with my friend

Bryce who’s been living in Melbourne for a few years now, we were joined by Rupert and two of

his friends, Nipun and Alex and we went on something of a bar crawl. Bryce knew all the spots and we

went from bar to bar finding some real gems.

Australia is far away, really far away. My trip to Melbourne was far from

optimal was not without incident(s). The first leg of the trip to Dubai

started off poorly as upon checkin I found my aisle seat had turned into a middle seat next to an extremely

tall man who couldn’t help but overflow his arms and legs into my

personal space.
