Some basic facts…..

The reality of women’s life remain invisible to men and

this invisibility remains at all levels .

Geographically share same space but live in different

worlds.

True that women have made great strides in many

areas with notable progress but ‘the afflicted world

which we live is characterized deeply by unequal

sharing of the burden of adversities between women

and men’.

Sprawling inequalities persist in their access to

education, health care, physical and financial

resources and opportunities in political, economic,

social and cultural spheres.

Why society need women safety?..

About 10 % of crimes in country are

those of women abuse.

Women's make up 2/3 rd of illiterate

population.

A women is raped in every 20 minutes

in India.

Of 1.3 billion people who live in

absolute poverty 70% are women.

Only 30% of women are economically

active, in china it is 80%.

Domestic violence can be

defined as a pattern of behaviour in

any relationship that is used to gain

or maintain power or control over an

intimate partner. Abuse can be

physical, sexual, emotional

,economic , or physiological actions

or threats of action that influence

another person.

An overview on domestic violence….

1 in 3 married women report having been

slapped by their husbands.

About 12 to 15% report having their arms

twisted, being pushed,kicked,draged,or

beaten up, or having something thrown at

them.

1 in 7 ever married women have suffered

physical injuries as result of spousal

violence.

For most women who have ever experienced

spousal violence, the violence first occurred

within the first two years of their marriage.

Female foetcide is the act of

aborting a foetes because it is a

female. this is a major social

problem in India and has cultural

connections with dowry systems

that is ingrained in Indian

culture, despite the fact that it

has been prohibited by law since

1961.

Overview on female foeticide

Every year 1 in 25 female foetuses are aborted.

There are instances of women getting pregnant 11 times in a matter of years just to have a boy.

It is estimated that more than 10 million female foetuses have been illegally aborted in India.

30 lakhs girls are lost to female feoticide from 2001-2011.

Rape is a sexual assault usually

involving sexual intercourse ,which is initiated by one or more persons without person’s consent. The act

may be carried out by physical force, coercion , abuse of authority or

against a person who is incapable of valid consent

Among female rape victims

perpetrators were reported

to be intimate

partners(51.1%),family

members(12.5%),acquaintan

ces(40.8%), and strangers

(13.8%).

In a study of undergraduate

women,19% attempted or

completed sexual assault

since entering college.

The Delhi incident is one of

the greatest discussed case.

Women illiteracy at a

Female constitute about 50% of country’s

human resource but lack of education

snatches their chance to be a part of

progress and development of India.

Poverty is the root cause of many

problems in India and also of low female

literacy rate as more than 1/3 rd of

population of India is living below the

poverty line.

Negative attitude of parents towards girl

child and her education is one of the major

reasons of low female literacy rates in India.
